Matt Lester brings with him broad domestic and international experience as an accomplished creative director, brand definer, launcher and marketer. Matt has been responsible for all things creative and digital, designing top-of-industry marketing campaigns that meet and exceed client expectations.
Matt is currently developing marketing campaigns, including digital marketing, advertising, web design, content and brand positioning for clients across divergent categories, including skincare, luxury jewelry, prestige insurance and global construction.
Before venturing out on his own, Matt was most recently Executive Creative Director at Peppercomm, where he transformed the agency from a respected PR firm into a fully integrated marketing partner. With increased capabilities across all disciplines, from creative to production to digital executions across all media platforms, the agency was now able to fully service prestige clients, including Avon 39, Nestlé, Ernst & Young, BMW, Mini, T.G.I.F and many more.
While acting as Executive Creative Director at both Pedone and Partners and Karousel Collective, Matt created and helmed a variety of cross-platform campaigns for Avon, Proactive, Lord & Taylor and the US Polo Assn., which included television, radio, print, online, social media and experiential marketing.
Previously, Matt was a McCann Worldgroup Senior Vice President, Group Creative Director. During his tenure, he pioneered high-profile celebrated campaigns – Kohl’s, L’Oréal, Vaseline Intensive Care, Gillette (men & women’s shaving and skin care), Brooks Brothers, Taster’s Choice, Coca-Cola and Nestlé, among others – all with a steadfast insistence on uncompromising strategic and creative excellence.
Matt evolved into a specialist in fashion, beauty, skin care and hair. His work for L’Oréal included all hair color and care, cosmetics and skin care. This experience made Matt perfectly suited to lead the introduction of the American Beauty line of cosmetics, developed exclusively for Kohl's by Estée Lauder. Matt’s reinvention of Kohl’s, from drab department store chain to tried-and-true fashion destination, began here. It was a ground-breaker and a game-changer. Accessible met inspirational with the launch of exclusive lines by Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Dana Buchman and more. Along with the strong paid media presence, consumer engagement skyrocketed through online, social and experiential marketing.
Some of the many kudos Matt has received include Clio, Art Director’s Club of New York, ADDY, CA, EFFIE, and inclusion in the permanent collection at the Museum of Radio and TV as well as the Smithsonian.
Matt has served on the Board of Directors of the 25-year-old theater company Naked Angels and has done pro-bono work for Abod Shelters, Arms with Ethics, The Army Cyber Institute, Avon Breast Cancer Institute, CaringKind, Lunch Box and the New York Blood Bank.
